Established in 1979, USF-HICOM (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (formerly known as United Straits Fuso Sdn Bhd) - more commonly known as 'USF-HICOM' - is the authorised importer, assembler and distributor of the Mitsubishi range of 4x4 vehicles, multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs), commercial vehicles, double-cabs and buses.

     

The majority of vehicles sold by USF-HICOM are locally-assembled models, with the Mitsubishi Pajero being the most popular. Assembly of this model started in 1991 and since that time, it has been dominant in the 4x4 segment of the Malaysian market with an overall 68% market share. In fact, the volume of Pajeros assembled in Malaysia is one of the highest in the world outside of Japan.

More recently, the introduction of the Mitsubishi Storm Double Cab has been another success story at USF-HICOM. Part of the reason for its popularity has been the availability of the 1st automatic transmission in a 4x4 pick-up. In its first year of sales, the Storm's cumulative share of the pick-up market rose from 18% to 35%, and now it has become the No. 1 double-cab with 48% market share (based on MAA's January 2003 report).

USF-HICOM also offers a broad range of other Mitsubishi models to cater to different segments of the market for both private and commercial applications. Apart from the locally-assembled models, which include Mitsubishi Fuso trucks, USF-HICOM also imports - directly from Mitsubishi Motors Corporation of Japan - completely built-up (CBU) units of selected models such as the Mitsubishi Pajero CK Super Exceed, Pajero iO and, in 2003, the all-new 4WD Airtrek Turbo-R with a 240bhp EVOLUTION VII engine. Comprehensive after-sales service and warranty support are provided to customers of such models with the backing of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation.

To provide the best sales and after-sales services to customers, USF-HICOM has a comprehensive network of 14 showroom branches and over 56 dealerships strategically located in Peninsula Malaysia and East Malaysia. Additionally, there are also over 60 authorised dealers in many major towns, offering after-sales services and genuine Mitsubishi spare parts.
